The Mission of Finland to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) manages Finland’s relations with NATO within the framework of Partnership for Peace (PfP). It represents Finland in the meetings of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) and carries out tasks associated with NATO-led crisis management operations. The Mission also acts as a go-between for the Finnish defence establishment and NATO when it comes to improving military interoperability.
The PfP programme entails wide-ranging Civil Emergency Planning (CEP) cooperation, and the Mission also plays a role in supporting some NATO Partner countries' defence sector reforms. Furthermore, the Mission of Finland to NATO participates in capabilities cooperation and defence materiel cooperation with NATO.
The Mission monitors NATO’s activities and development concerning issues and areas of central importance to Finland. From the Finnish perspective, evaluating the transformation of the Alliance and its international relevance is one of the Mission’s key tasks.
It is the objective of the Mission to actively promulgate useful and relevant information to policymakers, interest groups and citizens with regard to Finland-NATO cooperation.
